Clonanav is located in the middle of Ireland's best stream fishing for wild brown trout.. I consider Andrew Ryan to be Ireland's most capable, and enjoyable, stream fly-fishing guide. His family's farm B&B is a bit of old Ireland mixed with modern accomodations and excellent cuisine. When I travel with my wife, I want to sightsee and fish dry flies to healthy wild brown trout. The best place I know of to do that is at Clonanav."

Irelands’ second longest river and world famous for its dry fly fishing. It is a wide (30m/100ft) limestone river/spring creek flowing for 114 miles to the sea at Waterford port. The river has easy access and wading is a pleasure with a level gravel bottom.

Fish

The fish average size is from 20 to 40 cm (8 to 16) inches, larger fi share also caught. With many slow glides and pools the fi sh are very selective, so long fine leaders are the norm with fl ies ranging from size 12 to 22.

Flies/Hatches

The main hatches are BWO, Caddis, Spurwing, black gnats etc. We use a lot of small dries, mainly Klinkhammers, Comparaduns, Elk hair caddis, and small bead heads.

Equipment

Suitable equipment for the fi shing the Suir is a 9ft #5/6 line. 6X & 7X leaders.
