Fly Fishing Expo
A huge Success!
Our First fly fishing expo was a huge success. The attendance was unprecendented with around 150 people attending on Saturday and 60 on Sunday.

The demonstrations from all the instructors were very popular. Ian Gordon Demonstated spey casting from Hardy & Greys, Mark Pearson from Guideline demonstrated using Shooting heads. Jim Fearn from Rio/Vision gave some demos using the latest gear from both companies.
Tom Doc Sullivan was on hand showing off the latest gear and giving some fly tying & lough style demos. Jason O'Riordan of the Clonanav staff gave a comprehensive talk on salmon fishing techniques. Clonanav owner Andrew Ryan give a trout casting demo.
The Expo took place at our shop and newly revamped casting ponds. We have just installed some new casting platforms and footpaths to make access much easier.
Later in the season we may be holding another one of these events due to the popularity of this one.

Casting/Fly Fishing Expo Timetable
We are really looking forward to this unique weekend for fly fishing in Ireland. This is the first expo of its kind in this country and we are glad that we can offer such a great range of demonstrators giving free demos for our customers and friends. Free Open Weekend
Join us for this free open weekend in April. Free casting demos from Top casters including IAN GORDON from HARDY, JIM FEARN from VISION, Mark Pearson from Guideline.
Those who attend will be able to test the latest gear from all the top brands including Hardy, Sage, Guideline, Loop, Rio, Simms, Greys, Vision, Redington and much more!

Ian Gordon the famous Scottish caster will be demonstration double handed techniques using some of the latestHardy & Greys Gear. Ian hails from the river Spey in Scotland, having fished since the age of eight and worked as a Ghillie on the Knockando beat (Spey) for 19 years. He is a qualified STANIC salmon instructor, specialising in the Spey cast, along with teaching basic casting with a double handed rod.
Lawrie Hickman is an experienced angler and has spent many years running lodges in Russia, he is a member if the Guideline team and will be displaying the latest gear from Guideline this year.
Jim Fearn an AAPGAI instuctor from the UK will be demonstrating for Vision and Redington, his relaxed casting style is legendary and he will be available to give tips and advice throughout the weekend.
Tom Doc Sullivan famous guide on the Corrib and western lakes will be demonstrating fly tying techniques including how to tie some of his famous bumbles. Tom a well know international angler and casting instructor is now head of sales for Hary & Greys in Ireland.
Andrew Ryan will also be giving some casting and fishing technique demos including how to fish streamers and nymphs. Andrew who owns Clonanav is an FFF Master and fly casting instructor will be on hand for any advice and help during the weekend.
Jason O’Riordan who also guides at Clonanav will give a talk on salmon fishing techniques and styles on the rivers Suir & Blackwater. This is sure to be a great talk and if you intend to get into salmon fishing in 2008 this is not to be missed.

New Fly Fishing Course Date Announced - 18 August
1 day Course
Our 1 day course is ideally suited to those who have never fly fished before and would like an introduction to
the sport. On the course you will learn - casting, tackle setup, how to choose correct tackle, safety, fishing
techniques, and knots. 1 day courses commence at 10 am and finish at 5 pm.

Excellent Salmon Fishing
The rivers Suir and Blackwater are fishing exceptionally well at the moment for Salmon. All the recent rain has ensured that the rivers have plenty of water. The banning of the drift nets has ensured that fish are much larger than usual and in plentiful supply.
