Great trout fishing

1 |

Some great trout fishing this week on the Suir and tributaries. The fresh water has meant that the fish are more active, but mainly on the nymph. Some rising trout in the afternoon, but the majority of fish being caught on nymphs. Chalkstream anglers are used to fishing very traditional methods and guided John Woodhead and Chris Heseltine this week. Being used to fishing dries upstream only it was an eyeopener for them to see the varied techniques here including NZ style, streamers, downstream dries and lots more.  Lets hope they don't get caught using any of these methods at home, or they will be banned from the hallowed waters!
