Opening Day
1 |
Finally the winter is over and the fishing season is back open again. The rivers are in great condition, low and clear. It is rare to see the water levels so low for this time of year, and for the trout to be rising so early in the season. After a long winter is was great to get out on the river again on Sunday morning. There were a few flies hatching, some some midges and iron blue duns on the water.
I went and fished both the Nire and Tar for a couple of hours. The Tar fished best with some trout rising in the Goatenbridge area. I did lose one nice fish on a PTN flashback with a few more takes on small dries.
The Nire was slow as the water was much colder and is often a much later river to fish. The Suir is also in great condition with already some reports of some nice trout being caught in the Cahir Anglers water. Also already there have been reports of one spring salmon on the Carrick on Suir Anglers water.
Looking forward to a great season ahead![gallery link="file" columns="6"]
