Salmon on the Move
1 |
The river Suir has had a nice rise in water the past few days. Yesterday and today it began to fine down nicely and was in great condition for the fly. The water still has a little bit of tinge to it, but is in great condition for the fly.
Good numbers of grilse and larger salmon are on the move, with fish being reported from downstream below clonmel and also up as far as Arfinnan.
Today I was out with Ferdinand and his daughter Melissa on the Suir. Ferdinand had an amazing trout close to 4lb on his first cast!
Ferdinand is also pictured with a very fresh Grilse
Evan Browne from Waterford caught this very fresh sea liced grilse today on Roxborough.
The fish pictured below was over 17lb caught by Tony O'Dwyer.
