What size trout rod should I buy?
There are so many rods and reels on the market today it is hard for the beginner to figure out. A simple guide is as follows
River Trout Fishing 8ft - 9ft rod - line weight 3-5wt
River Nymph fishing - 10-11ft #2-3 wt line
Lake Fishing 9ft6 - 11ft rod rated #5 - 7wt line
Which salmon rod is best for me?
There are a huge variety of salmon rivers in Ireland from small spate rivers to the larger salmon rivers. Rod choice is very important so choosing the correct rod will make your fishing so much easier.
All round Salmon rod - 12ft6 - 13ft6 - rated 7/8 or 8/9 Line
Small salmon rivers - 12ft # 7/8 Line
