Lost Coast

About Us | Lost Coast Outfitters

Our Downtown San Francisco Fly Shop

Lost Coast Outfitters is located at 550 Montgomery St (inside of Wingtip), on the corner of Clay and Montgomery in the heart of S.F.'s Financial District. The shop resides in the original Bank of Italy building across from the iconic Transamerica Pyramid.

Lost Coast Outfitters is located in the back of Wingtip, SF's most diverse men's store. San Francisco's only fly shop is just one of the attractions that you will find under Wingtip's roof. The 300+ unique bottles of whiskey and a stellar selection of cigars make 550 Montgomery the perfect place to start any fishing trip.

Every product is tested and chosen for its superior performance. Every outfit we build we take into consideration the anglers ability, desires, intended application, taste and budget. Not attracted to gimmicks we believe in sourcing the best performing products on the market.

 Who Are We?

Founded on the belief that life is better around a campfire, we live for weekends in the wild and the many pursuits of the sporting life. Fly fishing, campfire cooking, dogs in trucks, mountain towns, post-game whiskeys, hiking, hunting, and general backcountry diversions are all part of the Lost Coast story.

We Believe that the highest honor we can pay a product is to stock it in our store and recommend it to our customers. We stock only the best brands and products at every price point. If you want to fly fish, regardless of budget or background, we have the equipment and expertise to get you outfitted.

Lost Coast Outfitters is proud to serve as The San Francisco Fly Shop, but we're most at home outside the city limits. Our team is a collective of anglers and adventurists who seek out great fishing, appreciate quality gear, and don't mind smelling like a campfire.

 Conservation Partners

Our passion for the outdoors was passed down through generations.

We believe the organizations below will help ensure that future generations will experience the sporting life:

"George Revel's eclectic tastes pay off for him"- SF Chronicle 1/10/2014
George Revel's tastes might be more expected of a man twice his age, but the 25-year-old's business profits from him being a bit of an oddball. Lost Coast Outfitters, Revel's fly fishing store-within-a-store that opened in December, is the only fly-fishing store in San Francisco
"High-end S.F. clothier tries to reel in fly fishermen" - SF Chronicle 10/23/2014:

At the downtown San Francisco clothing store Wingtip, the discerning customer can find a $2,500 leather briefcase, a $495 pair of tasseled loafers or a $3.25 Epoxy Golden Stone Nymph.

"A Morning With George Revel" - Fiberglass Manifesto 3/4/2014

While on the recent trip to northern California, I found myself with a day that was more or less free of anything to do before the Fly Fishing Show started in Pleasanton that weekend.  I hit up George Revel of Lost Coast Outfitters and he graciously offered to take me out to the Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club.

The Fishing Report: In February of last year we began the fishing report. This marked the first of now 43 consecutive weeks of sending the fishing report every Thursday without fail. With help from the best guides in Northern California stretching into other states. With the drought we educated people the issues certain rivers like the Truckee River faced.  We also helped people to find healthier conditions for fishing. More than just a fishing report we make restaurant, whiskey, and travel recommendations.

The Store: At a 190 sq feet we have a collection of over 40 of the finest fly rods available to today. Each one chosen for its superior performance in both fishing and casting. Each outfit is built taking into consideration the anglers ability, desires, taste and budget. Not attracted to gimmicks we believe to source the best performing products on the market.

Service: We are stoked you fly fish. We love to exchange stories about fly fishing trips future and present. Tap into our Guide Network if you need a guide. We will email you detailed trip report and suggest trips to you. Our trout town guides and river profiles offer some killer advise for fly fishers. We will dig through your bag and fill in your empty holes, help you design the perfect fly box, choose the perfect gift, show you any spot I know (while still honoring a few fishing buddy code of ethics)

The Tin Cup Society: We have just launched The Tin Cup Society. We will be offering a list of speakers, clinics and trips. The slogan, life is better around the campfire bleeds through how we strive to spend our free time. From a fireplace in a lodge, a well built fire ring, to a rocket stove the goal to fish the most beautiful places is at it's core.
