Andrew Ryan is one of Ireland’s best known fly fishing instructors and guides. Owner of Clonanav Fly Fishing School and Shop he has been guiding for over 20 years on the river Suir and tributaries. He first qualified as a REFFIS Instructor in 1993 at the age of only 18; one of the youngest instructors to ever be awarded the qualification. Andrew Ryan is a member of APGAI – Ireland, and holds the FFF Masters and THCI which are the highest casting instruction qualifications in the world.

We endeavour to get your order to you as soon as possible. Shipping is usually same day if ordered before 3pm (Tuesday-Friday). Once your order is dispatched a confirmation email is sent to your email address with the tracking details.
Spey Casting Course
Salmon fishing is often perceived to be very difficult, but join one of our courses and learn to Spey cast the easy way. These one day intensive courses are the ideal way of getting into salmon fishing and you will learn single and double spey, switch casts, how to spot salmon lies, and much more!
Course Location
All our courses are held at our facility in Clonanav, Ballymacarbry Co Waterford - E91XY44. Courses start at 10am and finish at 4.30pm
Lunch is provided at the casting ponds or on the river bank depending on which course you are on.

If you can arrive at Clonanav fly fishing before 10 am on the day of the course. If you could be here for around 9.30 - 9.45. The course begins at 10am. (we are very easy to find on google maps - just search Clonanav Fly Fishing)

We will be doing presentation first at the shop - covering tackle set up, equipment details and other important information Then we move to our casting ponds where you will go through essential casting techniques - Roll Cast, Switch Cast, Circle C
We will have lunch at the shop and then we move to our private beat on the river Suir for the afternoon. Here we will go through more casting and fishing techniques on the river. The course ends at 4.00pm

Please make sure to bring the following with you:
Rain jacket
Double handed rod - If you do not have a double handed rod or you feel yours is unsuitable please let us know beforehand so we can have one ready for you. Numbers of loan rods are limited so this will be on a first come basis.
Waders and boots.
