Our extensive range of Guideline Salmon Polyleaders is designed with a uniquely slim and supple profile, offering exceptional performance and versatility. Available in two lengths and four densities, they offer a quick and easy way of adjusting the sink rate of your leaders and always keep the fly in the zone.

For quick depth adjustments

Polyleaders are the perfect accessory for anglers who prefer to fish full floating fly lines. In shallow streams, or during low‑water summer conditions in larger rivers, they offer an excellent way to reach a bit more depth whenever the situation calls for it. When you are fishing a floating line, you can instantly attach a Polyleader via the loop-to-loop connection to create a sink‑tip in various densities.

This allows you to get down to the right depth while still using the speed of the surface current to fish your fly fast — often exactly what’s needed to provoke a response from hesitant fish. Although Polyleaders are most commonly associated with floating lines, you should not overlook their usefulness on sinking lines as well. This type of leader adds a touch of extra weight to the front of the line and improves turnover, which can be a real advantage when casting larger or heavier flies.

Taper & Design

Built with a durable PVC coating over a low-stretch monofilament core, these leaders provide smooth energy transfer, excellent turnover, and precise control of fly depth. For ease of use they are pre-looped from the factory; the back end with a classic coated loop and the exposed core in the front has a small and tidy Perfection Loop. Each density has its own special taper and diameter to be perfectly balanced and to create the best and most even sinking effect. The heaviest densities have a straight level taper which ensures the full leader sinks at the same speed throughout the whole leader.

Polyleaders on the water

Depending on how deep you want to fish, there are a few ways to keep your fly at the desired zone. A Polyleader with high density will of course sink faster and take your fly further down in the water column, but a longer leader will also go deeper. In running water, the speed of the current is also a factor to consider; if you fish a fast run the water pressure will push your rig closer to the surface. Finally, the weight of the fly is also important; a weighted fly will work together with the leader, and the whole setup will fish nice and deep. The Guideline Polyleders are designed to be lengthened with a piece of tippet. The dimension should match the fish you are after, and with a length between 0,8 m to 2 m (2.5 ft to 6.5 ft).

Different applications

Whether you’re chasing sea trout in a small stream or salmon in a wide river, this series of Polyleaders offers the right combination of length, weight, and sink rates to match your fishing style. The Salmon range consists of 8ft and 10ft models in four different densities, and the strength/diameter of the monofilament nylon core is 30lbs /0,45mm.

Eco Features

The Guideline Polyleaders are 100% free from dangerous phthalates, and are delivered in a multi-use bag made from recycled plastic with a zip-lock closure.
